DirectX games gallery and my test results
I always used the original game versions with some potential official patches made to get them to run on WinXP or later Win OS.
These tests do not include any patched re-released versions.
This list is quite short now, I've just chose some games randomly, but it is continuously (and slowly) being expanded.
Another World
Status: | | OK |
Resolution override: | | OK |
MSAA: | | n.a. |
Wrapper settings: | | Default |
Game seems to be software rendered (nice vector graphics and cutscenes!), so no antialiasing is available.
Balls of Steel
Status: | | OK |
Resolution override: | | OK |
MSAA: | | Makes no sense |
Wrapper settings: | | Default |
It's a DirectDraw game so resolution forcing works but won't add anything to the rendering quality.
BlastThru
Status: | | OK |
Resolution override: | | OK |
MSAA: | | Makes no sense |
Wrapper settings: | | Default |
It's a DirectDraw game so resolution forcing works but won't add anything to the rendering quality.
Blood 2
Status: | | OK |
Resolution override: | | OK |
MSAA: | | OK |
Wrapper settings: | | Default |
You need
the patched executable if want to set high resolutions in-game.
Also, you may experience some fps drops with dynamic lighting enabled.
Chicken Invaders
Status: | | Playable |
Resolution override: | | OK |
MSAA: | | Makes no sense |
Wrapper settings: | | Default |
Software rendered, so resolution forcing make little sense.
Doesn't survive Alt-Tab, exits with an error message when trying to switch back.
Lego Island
Status: | | Not so perfect |
Resolution override: | | OK |
MSAA: | | OK |
Wrapper settings: | | Default |
You need
D3DRM.dll for this game.
The game doesn't survive Alt-Tab.
Also, the mouse seems to 'work better' if the game is launched in forced windowed mode and switched back to fullscreen later.
Resident Evil 2
Status: | | No movies |
Resolution override: | | OK |
MSAA: | | OK |
Wrapper settings: | | Default |
You need my
patched executables to utilize hardware accelerated rendering. Those exe's are of the US 1.4 version but I think I could patch other versions too.
You should select 320x240 game resolution and scale that up to a much higher one through dgVoodoo. Selecting 640x480 gives rendering into a rect (320x240) in the center of the screen.
Movies are Indeo which is not yet supported by dgVoodoo so they won't show up.
Suzuki Alstare Extreme Racing
Status: | | OK |
Resolution override: | | Font glitches |
MSAA: | | Font glitches |
Wrapper settings: | | non-Default |
This game should be run with the 'ATI 8500' preset to avoid paletted textures which causes crash.
The other choice,
the patched executable can be used with other video card types and so with default wrapper config.
